First, it’s the “energy” radiating from the moving sculptures and hues outside the gallery; then it’s the brilliant color that draws you in. Pippin Contemporary is a bright and inviting space located at the entrance to Canyon Road. It’s about the sensory experience of color and mood. There is not a better way to begin your brilliant, multicolored journey through the Santa Fe art scene! Here your experience begins in abstract painting, glass, kinetic and stationary sculpture.
Founded by Aleta Pippin, a leading artistic contributor to the gallery, she exhibits work that represents an energetic personal life journey, always with a vibrant spiritual bent. Surprise. Emotion. Light. Inner worlds. These common threads tie all the artists within Pippin Contemporary together. Pippin Contemporary is “new thought” incarnate. Sculptor Greg Reiche uses stone, glass and steel to construct enormous wedges, arcs, circles, and portals that interact with their surroundings in spectacular ways. Cody Hooper presents canvases both electrified and frenetic, yet he maintains a language that is completely recognizable. Tony Griffith paints geometric landscapes and mindscapes that somehow elicit order and emanate calm. The other artists make their own statements equally, yet completely differently.
But this is esoteric talk – you can’t really know what we mean until you experience it for yourself. While Aleta Pippin is immeasurably creative with her work and her knowledge of the world of art is deep, she is also a consummate business woman and skillfully balances the artistic and entrepreneurial worlds. Ashley Wilson joins her as director of the gallery. With in-depth education and working experience in art and design, Ashley’s eye for color, visual expertise and individual artistic style lends to the gallery’s unique approach. Gallerist Beverly Evans also lends expertise with her varied background in the arts, and together they have developed an excellent website so you can see what ultimately can’t be described. Better yet, enjoy the gallery located at 200 Canyon Road. 505.795.7476
