Shaking hands with New Mexico farmers.
Open year round, the vibrant and energetic Santa Fe Farmer’s is an exceptional way to dive into our community while you’re visiting the City Different. The “agvocate” market that began with a handful of farmers in the late 1960s is now New Mexico’s largest farmers’ market and represents more than 150 growers featuring an amazing array of produce that you won’t see in your average supermarket.
Think red carrots, a rainbow of heirloom tomatoes, purple cauliflower, stinging nettles, green garlic, watermelon radishes, quail eggs, rabbit, maitake mushrooms, exquisite and unique handcrafts and much, much more. Savor the biodiversity of our sweet old world by enjoying the seasonal selections, some known only to the New Mexico region. Many of the farmers go to great lengths to grow the most nutritious produce possible by using sustainable techniques, picking produce right before the market and growing heirloom varieties. You’ll feel good purchasing from local families who provide meat, cheeses and eggs from animals that have been humanely raised without hormones and have grazed on green grass and natural diets.
Farmers, ranchers and artisans at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market are often passionate cooks with preparation tips, recipes and meal ideas. From savoring produce at the peak of freshness to meeting the people who grow our local food to getting your knives sharpened and listening to great live music, there are countless reasons to support the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market. Taste Santa Fe’s real flavors, support family farmers and nourish yourself. The market is open year round with several locations on different days. Double check the schedule at their website.
