Tesuque is among the more traditional pueblos. The pueblo was deeply involved in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 and, tribal offices are closed August 10th each year in remembrance.
Tesuque may be translated as "cottonwood tree plaza"
The Pueblo on the banks of the Tesuque River may hav been inhabitd as far back as 1200 AD.
A highlight is the historic row houses on the village plaza
Artists produce micaceous and clay pottery, sculptures and paintings.
