20 miles or so from Espanola on Hwy. 84, turn right on 554 towards El Rito, go about 1/2 mile (cross the Rio Chama) to 155 (paved) and go left, after about 3 miles road becomes gravel, continue on gravel for about 1/2 mile to sign over road to Dar al Islam Mosque.
Follow sighns ( if you go to the right at the "Y" you will go to the White Place (Plaza Blanca) where Georgia O’Keeffe painted the white cliffs.

The mosque and madressa (school) are located on 1600 acres.
They are part of the educational program of Dar al Islam which also operates The Abiquiu Inn
Women who wish to visit the mosque ought to be prepared to cover their heads, and to slip on a long cover-up (sometimes available at mosque) in order to enter the mosque. |
